Circo François

Circo François was inaugurated by Jean François and Anna Stevanowich in 1881, in France. Both were descendants of European saltimbanco artists. They toured in Europe and Middle East and then came to South America together with other circus groups from Eastern Europe. Jean and Anna move to Brazil where they inaugurated the Pavilhão (pavillion) François with more than twenty relatives acting in the circus, which ended the activities in 1962.
