Polydoro
João Manoel Ferreira da Silva

?, 1859 - Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, Brazil, 1916

He is considered the pioneer of the musical clowns in Brazil. In 1873, he was performing at Circo Elias de Castro and later owned his circus. From 1870 to 1907 he wrote his own tour diary which is now part of the collection of the Centro de Memória do Circo, in São Paulo (Circus Memory Center). In 1889, Polydoro married the Spanish artist Adelia Figueirol. They had thirteen children, all of them circus artists.
