Roger Avanzi

Acrobat, actor, equestrian, clown Picolino. He is the son of Nerino Avanzi and Armandine Ribola and belongs to the third generation of circus artists from Europe. He was born in Circo Nerino where he first appeared on stage in a comedy, in 1923. When he was six years old he studied elementary school with Amaral's wife and started performing acrobatic acts. Afterwards he studied junior highschool with private teacher Francisco Colman, who was the creator of the Academia Piolin de Artes Circenses in São Paulo. Later on his life he finished his studies in a distance learning course, taking exams from the Colégio Pedro II in Rio de Janeiro. Roger married the equestrienne Ana Garcia. In order to get news from his children who were living with the grandmother Margarida Garcia in São Paulo, Roger became a radio amateur. He performed at Circo Nerino until 1964 and at Circo Garcia (1966 - 1973). He taught at Academia Piolin and Circo Escola Picadeiro. He and Verônica Tamaoki are the authors of Circo Nerino.
