Clown. She is the daughter of João Alves and Brígida Echeverria, from Uruguay. As a child, Xamego had a private teacher in the circus family. Xamego belongs to the second generation and it was by chance that she became a clown. She used to dress herself as a man in a time when women were not able to perform as clowns in the circusring. She and her father performed together in comedies. Due to her funny way of acting she always made the audience left. In 1942, Xamego married Eurico do Reis in São Paulo. They had nine children, only two of them survived: Aristeu Alves dos Reis, who played guitar for the Brazilian pop star, Roberto Carlos, for more than twenty years, and the journalist, Daise Alves dos Reis Gabriel.
