José Leão Schlosser

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 1934

Acrobat, hand-balancer, actor. His father was an engineer at the Light Company. With no artistic background, Leon studied circus arts by himself. When he finished highschoo he started rehearsing with the acrobat Chicão (Francisco Ferreira Lima). He made a debut in the circus owned by Danilo Stevanowich, which was set up at Calabouço, downtown Rio. One year later, he started performing with the Olimecha family and soon after he met the acrobat Eros Almeida in the Titã Fitness Center. They  made up the handstand duo Eros and Leon and together they performed in many circuses, theaters and nightclubs for thirty years. In more than 50 decades of artistic activities Leon performed in the circuses Olimecha, Garcia, Danilo Stevanowich, Tihany, Queirolo, Ozon, Bremen (owned by Aluisio Azevedo) and together with Iara Azevedo and Hildo Cinti. Leon married Maria Inês Pacheco Schlosser. Their children Ulisses and Glads are hand-balancer Olympic Gymnastics. In 2006, he formed the duo O Tempo (The Time) with Edson Silva, who was a student at National Circus School. Since then he also acts in soap operas, films and television programs.
