Globist. Son of Benevenuto Silva and Esther Riego silva, he belongs to the third generation of the Silva family. He was born into the Circo Teatro Variedades Irmãs Silva, and made his debut performing dandis at age six. He went on to become the owner of the circus at age 20. As a legendary icon of the Brazilian circus, Barry was talented in all areas of the circus and had performed varias acts in the circusring such as acrobat, handstander, chimpanzee trainer, elephant and lion tamer, globist with his brother Ed, perchist, equilibrist (ladder), trapezist, cyclist, jockey, actor, and musician. He also created the now famous circus, Circo Charles Barry, which was originally named Circo Norte Africano and Panamericano. Barry worked until 1982 when he decided to live his retired life in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. He married Eduvirges Poloni Silva with whom he had four children: Ermína, Ph.D in Social History at Unicamp, Esther, Charles Barry Júnior, and Shirley Silva. In his second marriage with Helena Ribeiro de Andrade, he had two more children: Andrea and Barry Silva Filho.
