Índio Jotha (pai)

Bragança, Portugal, 1905 - São Paulo, 1981

In the 1940s, he created the character Índio Jotha, performing knife throwing, plate spinning, ladder acts and lasso and whips dressed as a Native American. Índio Jotha married Mercedes and they had four children: Ubirajara, Tabajara, Jupira and Urubatan. Widow, he married for the second time and had two more children. Both families always worked together in various circus. He also made magic apparatus for other artists. His son, Ubirajara Henriques, was also known as Índio Jota as he performed the same acts as his father.
