Walter Almeida

Marcondésia, São Paulo, Brazil, 1925

Trapezist, actor, singer. He is the son of Diogenes Almeida and Idalina Almeida and belongs to the third generation of the Almeida family living in Campinas, São Paulo. Walter made his debut in his childhood acting ou pantomimes and on the flying trapeze. At seven, he formed the comic country duo "Maquininha and Zé da Maria Cumprida" with his colleague Hermógenes Xavier. After an accident on stage, he started acting in theater plays for the Pavillion Teatral Circo Irmãos Almeida, owned by his family. Walter married Paulina Pacheli de Almeida in 1947. They had three children - Alfredo (Fredô), Walter and Abegair Almeida (Nhá Tica) and they all became professional circus artists and performed until 1975 when they started college.
