Achiles Hipolito Garcia

Argelia, c.1900 - Brasil, 1965

Acrobat, handstander, parachutist. Son of the French photographer Jouvert, he immigrated to Brazil in 1928 and here he was the only foreigner to obtain a military patent in the Brazilian Air Force. Here, he introduced the trampoline to his colleagues. In 1929, he crossed the Baía de Guanabara in Rio de Janeiro performing acrobatic acts, while hanging on a trapeze attached to a small airplane. Later, he made handstand duos with Manuelito Olimecha and Gustavo Josinger.
