Guilherme Carlo

Rio de Janeiro,1887- Rio de Janeiro,1946

Acrobat, wire walker, musician, actor, clown and tamer. He is the son of George Carlo and Amelia Carlo. The Carlo family originated in England by his paternal grandfather William Lawrence, who changed his name to Felix Carlo. Guilherme worked for the circuses Olimecha, Berlim (owned by Joaquim Araujo) and Pierre. He also acted with the clowns Piolin and Benjamim de Oliveira. Later in his life, he made circus apparatuses and tents for other artists. In 1920, Guilherme married Etelvina Vilamajor Carlo in the city of Caçapava, São Paulo. They had six children: Elza, Jorge, Edgar, Norma, Walter and Aldo Carlo. Elza never joined the circus and the other five formed the Troupe Irmãos Carlo, later known as the Troupe Charles Brothers.
