Daughter of the Spanish Marcelino Teresa and the English Liz Stuart, she is the descendent of European saltimbanco, came to Rio de Janeiro in 1908 at age seventeen and belongs to the third generation of the Teresa family. The couple used to travel around South America and were contracted by circus companies.
