She was born in a rich English family and became a comic and equestrienne. Always cultivating an excentric way of life, she used to bathe her horses in champagne. In 1884, Amélia was the main artist at Circo Spinelli. There she met and married George Carlo. One of the descendentes, Walter Carlo, has been teaching at Escola Nacional de Circo since 1982.
