Woman fighter, dancer, fire eater, actress, poet, reciter, composer. She started her artistic career in the 1960s as Indiany. When she was twenty she became widow and had three children to take care. At that time she started performing in the circus owned by Valdir de Almeida, in the city of Campinas, São Paulo. There she acted in dramas and recited poems. Few years later, she got a contract at Circo do Sabuguinho, where she was discovered by Orlandinho da sanfona. Together, they moved to São Paulo and she started dancing while he played the accordeon. Both performed at Circo Hong Kong, owned by Zé Pequeno. Flexa also started ias a fire eater and dancing with snakes. In 1965, she became a fighter and took part in the team of the legendary woman Olga Zumbano, who toured throughout Brazil and South America fighting in circuses with women and men. As a fighter, Flexa also had the artistic name of Índia Amazonense. In 1970 she started her own company, but retired in the late 1980s, when she acted in two German films (1990). The end of the career happened when she hurt herself during a fire eating act. Índia Flexa Ligeira lives in São Paulo, apart from the artistic mètier.
