Augusto Teodoro Batista

Trapezist and tamer. Son of Anna Theodhorvichy (Áustria, c.1833 – Brasil,1935), he and his four siblings Pedro, Luisa (married Pedro Robattini) Jorge and Emilia were most likely part of the third generation of European saltimbanco artists. It is belived that he came to Brazil in a ship together with seven circus families including Silva (Wassilnowich) and Robattini. He spent his whole life working as the owner of Circo Tchais. He married Regina Cortês Batista (Rio de Janeiro, 1927) who performed passeio aéreo. The couple had nine children and all took part in the shows: Osvaldo, Júlia, Benjamim, Nair, Altair, Wilson, Aparecida, Clélia e Augusto Batista Filho.
